LARA DE SIO
Born in Bolzano in 1968. She graduated in architecture at the University of Architecture in Venice and worked for some years as architect in Italy and in the Netherlands. She worked in Murano as designer first at Barovier&Toso, then at Venini. Her interest in ceramics started in the end of the ’80s attending the atelier of potter Leonardi in Bolzano and then following workshops in Venice and Tuscany. In 2005 she exhibited at the Bochaleri in Campo in Venice. In 2011 she met the English ceramic artist David Roberts in Deruta and the following year she attended his masterclass in Comano. In the same year she participated in Manos – Self-produced Design Exhibition in Venice. In 2013 she was selected to participate in the exhibition Goudsekeramiekdagen in Gouda, the Netherlands. In December 2013 she had a solo exhibition at the Kleine Galerie of Bolzano, showing a selection of works made with the naked raku technique. In 2015 she partecipated in the International Competition of Contemporary Ceramics “Premio Faenza” and in the same year she attended a masterclass about terra sigillata and naked raku with David Roberts. At the moment she lives and works in Venice.
